Environment: MacOS Sierra
Application: Excel 2019 - New install
Issue -
I have a spreadsheet with hyperlinks in them. The links are all local files on my hard drive:
=HYPERLINK("filename","link")
Some of the links are to .nef files and the handler for a NEF is DxO PhotoLab. The system has a valid handler for NEFs since I can open them from the finder. Other links are to .jpg files, and the handler for that is Preview.
The .nef hyperlinks do not work but the .jpg hyperlinks do work. Clicking on .nef gives me the message "Alert - Cannot open the specified file." Clicking on the .jpg opens the file in Preview.
Curiously, hyperlinks for .nef and .jpg files are working in Word -- if I put the filename in a link in a Word document, the proper application is called.
Also, I still have Excel 2011, and the hyperlinks are working fine from there.
I think what I missed was the step to grant access to the particular kind of file. Since this is a new install of 2019, I am seeing the grant requests for the first time.
Could this be the problem? Is there a way to force Excel to ask for a grant request again?

Hi Rex,
You may first try Phillip's suggestion to see if the problem will be gone if you use Raw Convert CC and share the result with us. The reason may as you said in your post, since we cannot reproduce your situation, would please try reinstalling the raw processor to see whether Excel 2019 can recognize the .nef files.

Tisky
Well no that's not the issue. I'm not looking for another raw processor; I already have one and it works fine. The issue is that specifically Excel 2019 does not want to open .nef files, although it will open .jpg's.
If you are suggesting attempting to see if Excel will open a .nef once Raw Convert CC is installed, that may be a legitimate test. I already have a Nikon raw converter and can try that.
I'm more interested in the specific reason why Excel will hyperlink to the registered app for some file types, but not for other types. That is the crux of the problem.
If you own/subscribe to any Adobe products. Such as Photoshop. download and Raw Convert CC the try using it as the handler. see if that works Raw Converter CC, converts NEF (Nikon's Raw format) to a universal Raw format most every video application on the market can read.
