MS Office apps error

Ever since my windows updated recently , all the ms office apps that came preinstalled with my laptop stopped working. Everytime I try to open any of the office apps , the following error comes up (for MS Word here) :

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Office.Desktop.Word_16030.10228.20098.0_x86...\WINWORD.exe

The configuration registry database is corrupt.

Similar error for other office apps.

I tried both repair and reset through Apps and Features but neither worked.

How to fix this error?

Uninstall the Office 365 applications completely then reinstall it using the following instructions:

Step 1 - Sign in to download Office

Go to http://www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.

Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or school account.

Forgot your account details? See I forgot the account I use with Office.

On the Office home page, do the following depending on your version of Office.

If you signed in with a Microsoft account, from the Office home page select Install Office > Install. (Office 365 subscribers should select Install again).

This begins the download of Office. Follow the prompts on your screen to complete the install.

Are you using Outlook or made a lot of customizations? If not, uninstall that version and go to office.com and install the click to run version.

Uninstalling it will wipe out all settings and your outlook profile. if you use imap account, you need to export anything in 'this computer only' folders or they will be lost.

If you don't want to remove it, I'm going to check on the 'The configuration registry database is corrupt.' error but it may be a few hours before I hear back.
