I have been using the same "template" of XL file (xlsm, I have some macros) for years to manage my personal financial info

3 days ago it started giving me this error message when I open the file

When I ask to indeed try to repair, I get something unusable with format screwed and formulas not working

I have now THREE times done the same thing

   - use File history to get the previous version

   - save under new name

   - make changes

   - save (all this without issue)

But the next time I try to open, I get the same message - and issues - again

What is happening ????

I am wasting a lot of time

    Hi CyrilLEVY-MARCHAL,

This month, two versions of Monthly channel have been released

The screenshot in your reply is not attached properly. Could you please try again?  To upload the screenshot, use the Insert Image (second option from right) button when replying.

If you continue to get the error, try online repair:

    1. Click Start, in the search box type Run
    2. In the Run box, type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
    3. Select Microsoft Office 365, click Change>Online Repair>Repair.

After repairing, try saving the recovered file again and then check if you still get the error.

If the error persists, please provide the screenshot of Office 365 Product Information. To get this screenshot, open Excel, click File>Account, capture the screenshot of all the information mentioned under Product Information.

    Thanks,

    Neha

after more tests, the problem seems to be clearly with the SAVE function (have you guys released a new XL version over the past few days)

    Proof :

I recover a past version of the file : it opens without problem

I make no changes, and save it under a new name - lets call it v2

       I close XL

I open v2 : the error message is back, and the file cant be used

    1. Excel Office 365 MSO 16.0.10827.20118 32-bit

    2)

    1. yes it si specific. I tried with other xlsm, and with a new one, no problems
    2. no custom add-ins. I have actually a 1 month new PC so config quite clean

    More

    1. I have been using some version of this file for years, never had any problems, and did not do any significant changes just before the problem arose
    2. I tried saving (from recovery) in xlsx version, as well as in some other locations. Problem always there

    To summarise

     - I open a recovery version of the file (from File History) - all good

     - as soon as I save the file (even without making any changes), next time I try opening, the problem is back

This is a key file for me

    Please help

    Hi CyrilLEVY-MARCHAL,

To troubleshoot the issue, please provide the following information:

    1. Please confirm the version and build of your Excel application. ****
    2. A screenshot of the error.
    3. Is this happening with a specific .xlsm workbook? Please create a new .xlsm workbook and check if you get the same error.
    4. Do you have any custom add-ins installed in Excel? If so, please remove them and then test again.

    Thanks,

    Neha
