Hi ZHANG,

This error generally indicates that the Office 365 group has been deleted, since you can access the other location of the site and the error occurs only at home page, it may be a possibility that the Home.aspx page has been deleted from Pages page.

I’ll suggest you make another page as your homepage from Page library. For this, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/site/SitePages/Forms/ByAuthor.aspx
  2. Click the vertical ellipses next to the page title, and then click Make homepage.

If you haven't already created a page, you can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Go to https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/site/SitePages/Forms/ByAuthor.aspx
  2. Click New>Site Page
  3. Add a page title.

Thanks,

Neha

    Hi ZHANG,

This error “404 not found” generally indicates that the group has been deleted. May I know when was the last time you accessed the group site? Did someone delete the Office 365 group?

If you've deleted an Office 365 group, by default it's retained for 30 days. This 30-day period is called "soft-delete" because you can still restore the group. After 30 days, the group and associated content is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.

During the "soft-delete" period if a user tries to access the site they will get a 403 forbidden message. After this period if the user tries to access the site they will get a 404 not found message.

Please go to Exchange admin center to restore the group. If the group is deleted more than 30 days ago then it can’t be restored.

For detail steps on how to restore an Office 365 Group using the Exchange admin center, please see this article.

    Thanks

    Neha

    Hi ZHANG,

Please use the following URL to access your Group site (replace tenant and groupname with yours).

    https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/GroupName

In addition, please provide the following information:

    1. When did you create the affected Office 365 group? Did someone delete the group?
    2. If possible, please check with other members of the group to confirm if they can access the site.
    3. What permission did you have on the site?
    4. Please provide the screenshot of the page where you received the error.

    Thanks,

    Neha
