Reference to numbered item full context

I would like to reference to my appendix in Microsoft Word. The appendix has the headers: "Appendix X: Some sort of title" - where X is a numbered item. It is easy to make the reference "Appendix X", but I cannot make the reference: "Appendix X: Some sort of title". I have tried "numbered item: paragraph number (full context)" without luck. I am without clue here.

As far as a I know there is no single cross reference for both. You have to insert 2 cross reference links. One to the number the other to the text.

Yes, it is counter intuitive.

I want the other option - with context. And Shauna explicitly says not to do so

The "full context" option includes, or tries to include, higher numbering levels in the cross-reference and therefore the option isn't useful when you have set up appendix numbering with lower-level built-in headings.

    Hi,

If you use Shauna Kelly's workaround instructions for using heading styles for Appendices, you can cross-reference the heading.

See How to number headings and figures in Appendixes in Microsoft Word by Shauna Kelly (http://shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/numbering...)

    and

Why use Microsoft Word’s built-in heading styles? by Shauna Kelly  (http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/usebu...)
