Hi,

If we accidentally changed the version no. 3.0 to 3.1 and also checked in version 3.1. How to go back to version 3.0 without re-uploading the file?

Thanks and Regards,

Moet Moet

Hi Moet,

Thank you for your updates.

There’s no out of the box way to delete the current version of a file in SharePoint Online. If we make a mistake in the latest version and we want to delete it, we must first restore a previous version and then delete the version that contains the mistake.

To address your concern about this situation, We’d suggest you kindly post your feedback to UserVoice. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and to make our products and services better for you and others.

For a workaround, you can follow my suggestion mentioned above. For more details, you can refer to this article: Restore a previous version of an item or file in SharePoint.

Thank you for your understanding!

Regards,

Sukie

    Hi Moet,

Do you want to restore your current file to a previous version? If so, you can follow the steps below to restore the file to a previous version:

    1. First you need to turn on Version History in SharePoint and you can refer to this article: Enable and configure versioning for a list or library.
    2. Open the list or library from the Quick Launch bar.( If the name of your list or library does not appear, click Site contents or View All Site Content, and then click the name of your list or library.)
    3. Right click on the space between the item or document name and date, and then click Version History from the menu. You might need to scroll the menu to see Version History. (If you don't see Version History, click the ellipse (...) in the dialog and then click Version History.)
    4. In the Version History dialog, hover next to the version you want and click the down arrow on the right side to get a list of options.
    5. Click Restore.
    6. Click OK to restore the current version as the latest.

For more details, you can refer to this article: Restore a previous version of an item or file in SharePoint.

    Regards,

    Sukie
