I have used excel for years and have never seen anything like this. I am using excel 2016. When I  have an excel file and am using the "Save As" feature for Text - space delimited it is converting the document to a PDF and not a .prn file.

I have no idea how to stop or change this back to text file.

    Hi Lori,

I’d like to isolate first this concern so I’d know the possible cause of this. Can you confirm if the issue occurs on all existing file or even when you create a new Excel file? If you haven’t tried yet creating a Test Excel file, I’d suggest that you do so. Then, see if you’ll be able to save it as a .prn file and not as a PDF file.

I’ve tried replicating it on my end by creating a Test file. I’ve used Save as and choose Formatted Text (Space Delimited) as its type. As a result, the file was saved as a .prn file. Please see these images:
