I don't see a question in your message. All I can do is confirm what you apparently realize... Object Linking & Embedding [OLE] is a Windows technology which is not supported by Apple. Only Word & Excel objects can be embedded.
Other object types embedded using a Windows version will display when the document is opened by a Mac Office program but cannot be opened. The document (assuming it is saved in one of the Open Office XML file types, e.g, .docx, .xlsx) must be unzipped which allows the object to be extracted...
