"ctrl v" crashes Word 2016

Out of nowhere this morning, ctrl v started crashing Word.

  1. I can still paste using the ribbon.
  2. I can use ctrl v in other programs, so this is a uniquely Word problem
  3. I can use ctrl c in Word.

I use ctrl c and ctrl v all the time, so I'm not sure why it just stopped working out of nowhere today. I didn't install any new software since the last time ctrl v was working, so it's not that.

  1. ctrl v is working other Office Applications (like PowerPoint).

I'm just stumped at this point.

Thanks,

Jason

    Hi,

Is this a problem with one document or all documents or something in between?

Does it happen if you open Word in Safe mode?

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Open-O...

Safe mode is not a way to regularly use Word, but it is a valuable diagnostic step. If your problem goes away when you use Safe mode, we can walk you through other steps that may help eliminate the problem. Please write back.

If it works in Safe mode, you may want to look at the following while waiting for more information from me or here on the forum.
