When trying to open an excel file, I am getting following error message:

Excel cannot open the file 'name.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid.  Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

File was saved using Excel from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 and I'm trying to open file using Excel from Office Home & Business 2016

    Hi June18,

To help us identify the cause of the issue and then find the proper resolution for it, we'd like to know if the issue persists to all your files.

On the other hand, we recommend saving the files using other format. You can follow the steps under Save a different file format in an Excel 2007 and later file format in this article.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to get back to us.
