Cannot open closed notebook on OneNote

I closed a notebook in OneNote and now I can't open it again. The message that came up was "We couldn't open that location. it might not exist or you might not have permission to open it." I have checked my deleted notes and it's not there. It's still in recent notebooks, but when I try to open it the message above pops up. I try to open it on onedrive online but the "Error 404" comes up.  And I am having difficulties syncing my OneNotes to my OneDrive.

Hi Frida,

Thanks for the query and we are here to assist you on this.

According to all the error message, the notebook may be deleted.

I would like to explain that if the notebook has been deleted on OneDrive, it will still display on Recently list.

If it has been deleted, you still can see the notebook if you didn’t close it, but it can’t be synced.

Besides, you can find the notebook on OneDrive recycle bin. (Access to OneDrive>click Recycle bin)

For further narrow down the issue, I want to collect the following information:

  1. Where did you store the notebook, OneDrive or OneDrive for Business?
  2. Is the notebook shared by other user?
  3. The screenshot of the notebook on OneDrive if you still can find it.

Regards,

Qing
