How can I put a folder into a column on SharePoint? I am trying to move folders into a SharePoint library from my desktop, and when I move them they are put into an "unassigned" or default column. Is there a waty to access folder proprerties and put them under the drop-down tab of another column?

Thanks

    Hi Eric,

    Thanks for your reply.

As you mentioned that you can only rename the folder if you click the ellipsis, following are two screenshots when I click ellipsis of file and folder:

    1. File:

    1. Folder:

I would like to confirm if you can see the same options, if not, could you please also capture two same screenshots as above?

    Best Regards,

    Gloria

    Hi Gloria,

When I move files into the library they are initially placed into an unassigned folder, as shown below. The column I am using is called Work Order Management, and has categories as shown below.  When I press the three-dotted button next to the folder, I am only able to change the folder name. When I move individual files, I am able to press that same icon and change the column properties so as to specifically designate which of the drop-down menus below (e.g. 5W&1H, If Down Do) I would like the file in question to be located in.

    Hi Eric,

I would like to confirm if you have seem the folders in "unassigned" as shown in the following image:

If so, the cause is that you group the folders by "Assign To" column, so the folders will be in the "Unassigned".

If you group the folders by other columns such as "Modified By", the folders will be in user names who modified the folders.

Can you be more descriptive of what it is that you want? For example, what properties of folders you want to access in a new column.

    Best Regards,

    Gloria
