MS Accessing rejecting Data/time data types

Hello Community,

I have an existing database which i developed(Office 2010) a few months back. It works well on all computers at work.

I recently got a new HP Probook laptop  computer and on this computer, i cant enter date/time data into fields defined as such.

I get error message "The value you entered does not match the Date/Time Data type in this column".

I use Date/time pickers.....i have tried  entering data directly in the table using different date/time formats like dd/mm/yyyy,mm/dd/yyyy,yyyy/mm/dd etc and i still get the same error message.

So, i cant enter dates into fields defined as data/time. I thought database corruption and i created a new db with just one table and defined a date/time field and same error message.

I have checked Regional Settings in the Control panel and set the dates format...still no luck....

When i change data type to short text, i can enter data....

Any suggestions on how to overcome this?

It seems i cant use the laptop for MS Access work development...

If you create a table with a single short text field and enter a date like "5/29/2018" and then change the field data type to Date/Time is the text correctly converted?

    Hello,

The problem occurred without the input mask.

I was experimenting to see whether including them can solve the problem.

    Hi Ronald,

What happens if you get rid of the input mask. I never use them as I think they are more problematic than the are worth.

    Hello Doug,

I had not set both properties. I have set them(Date/time to short date and input mask to short date too).

I still get the same error.

It seems the laptop does not  allow date/time data fields ....in ms access!

In the design of the tables that contain the Data/Time fields, what to you have set for Format and Input Mask in the Field Properties grid for those fields?
