Access Database - Files and Structure Moved

We have an enterprise network. On that network a form and database were created years ago. The file server was replaced and the drives remapped.

The access database form is looking in an invalid location upon opening. How do I repoint the form to access the new file location?

I have office 2016 Access but the files were created in 2003.

If you are able to open your Access file in 2016, then you go to the External Data ribbon and use Linked Table Manager to relink to the data file.

I would suggest upgrading both files to accdb format after this is done.

Hi, you can convert to a supported format first ( save a copy before).

You need to relink the tables.

    Open the database

External Data -> Linked Table Manager

In the Linked Table Manager Dialog

Check the Always prompt for new location checkbox

Click on the Select All button

    Click on OK

Now go find the new location of your back-end, preferably using UNC path and not mapped drives.

    Click Open

When the process is done you'll get a confirmation message box

    Click Ok

    Click Close

I'd recommend at this point in time you also perform a compact and repair (on the Database Tools tab)
