Labels - Remove label & event type

Hi all,

I'm looking to deploy labels in our tenant for records management purposes and am specifically interested in the event triggered retention. When I create an label and associate it with an event type I cannot delete one or the other.

  • I did not publish the label
  • I did not check Set as record (as I know of the deletion issue).

The delete button is greyed out on the label and I get an error when trying to delete the event type stating that it cannot be deleted because it's associated with a label

I found this resource however it does not speak of my scenario: https://joannecklein.com/2018/07/02/deleting-an-office-365-retention-label/

Hi -Martin N-,

I tested by creating several labels. For some labels, I checked the box Use label to classify content as a "Record" and for some, left it unchecked.****The Delete label tab was disabled when labels were set to classify content as Record while for others, it was enabled.

Since you mentioned, you haven’t published the label and if **Use label to classify content as a "Record"**box is unchecked and still you are unable to delete the label, then try using PowerShell cmdlet Remove-ComplianceTag.

For detail information, please see Remove-ComplianceTag

Thanks,

Neha

    Thanks Nena that worked.

Just further clarify my issue, I had trouble deleting the label when I assigned an event type to it. I was able to delete both via powershell.
