Help vertically align text in MS Word Version 16.20 for Mac

I am trying to vertically align text in Version 16.20 of MS Word on my Mac and I can't seem to figure it out. I have searched the forums and read several similar articles, but the solutions for those users don't seem to be working for me. I haven't found any other posts with this version of Word, so I am assuming this might be the issue.

Does anyone know how to center the text in the middle of the page vertically? The tabs at the top under layout - align - align middle seems like the logical choice but they are grayed out. I can't seem to find a vertical alignment in any of the other menus.

I have attached a photo of the menus. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi Matthew,

I do not have a Mac and am writing from my experiences with the Windows version. That version is similar, but the two are not the same. While I've used Word on a Mac, that was a long time ago. Nevertheless, I hope that I can be of some help.

You need to find the Page Setup dialog. Try the layout tab.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.

    Regards

    Hi Mat,

The Align options you mentioned aren’t for text but for objects or shapes in Word 2016 for Mac. If you want to vertically align the text, as Charles said, you can click on Layout>Margins>Custom Margins>Layout>Vertical alignment do that.

    Thanks,

    Cliff

    Which do you Prefer

If you want three create a Textbox

    1. Type the information, in the box.
    2. On the Ribbon choose the last item format shape.
    3. Look for box "Align" has a picture sideways graph.
    4. click and choose Alain center.

Do this way and the text itself remains aligned one under the other.

Are you interested in the other styles get back to the question? I will give instruction on how to set up. I don't know a way to hide the outline of the textbox.

I was able to find the page setup and make it work! The page setup looks different than yours, it initially looks like it's just printer settings but once in the Page Setup menu, I changed the drop down from "Page Attributes" to "Microsoft Word" then clicked "margins" then clicked "layout" and I found vertical alignment. It seems a bit ridiculous to have it buried that far down, but it worked! Thanks for the help!

Glad to have helped. The translation from Windows version is imperfect.

This particular command has been buried in this dialog for at least 20 years. including Word  95 or Word 5.0 on the Mac.
