3D Models Button Greyed Out

Anonymous

First of all running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Powerpoint 16.20 on an Office 365 Subscription

Trying to put some 3D models into Powerpoint.  At first I could not find the 3D models button in the the insert ribbon.  So I created a custom tab and added the 3D buttons to a tab a labeled 3d.  The buttons are now there but they are greyed out and are not clickable.  I have attached an image of this as well so you can see what I am saying.

Also this exact thing is happening in Microsoft Word.

Any help would be great.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I do a test with the current version of the Office 2016 for Mac applications 16.20.0 (18120801) on a Mac with High Sierra 10.13.6 installed and I can’t reproduce the issue in our environment. There may be some other factors causing the issue in your environment. To confirm if the issue is related to your Mac, I suggest you install the PowerPoint 2016 for Mac application on another Mac to see and let us know the outcome.

As described in the article,  3D models in Office 365 for Mac or Office 2019 for Mac are supported on macOS version 10.12 and on macOS version 10.13.4 and later. This feature isn't supported on macOS version 10.11 and earlier. It also isn't supported on macOS version 10.13.0 through 10.13.3. If you’re running one of those versions, you’ll need to upgrade to a newer one to use 3D. So I’d like to confirm when the issue happens. When you are using the previous versions of the PowerPoint 2016 for Mac applications on macOS version 10.13.4, does the issue appear?

Thanks,

Cliff

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for your updates.

To check if the issue is related to the user profile, I suggest you create a new user profile to log into the Mac and then do a test to see the result.

    Thanks,

    Cliff

    Hello Cliff,

    Thank-you for your quick reply.

I have attached the images you asked for and some additional images showing that I can see the 3D tools when I try to customize the tool bars just they never appear or are functional on the toolbar.  Also some pictures to show that everything is updated.

Hope to hear back from you soon cheers,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

For our clarification, please upload full screenshots of the pages showing the Mac version and the PowerPoint 2016 for Mac application you are using.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

The option should appear by default if your Mac meets the requirements mentioned in the article.

So I’d like to confirm if you can see the option in Excel 2016 for Mac.

    Thanks,

    Cliff
