If the update option is not showing as expected, you may check the steps below so that you can proceed in updating your Office application:

    • If Update Options is missing and there's only the About button, you either have a volume license install or your company is using Group Policy to manage Office updates. Try Microsoft Update or contact your company help desk.

    • To download an update manually, see Office Updates.

    • If you would like to update Office but can't open any of your Office apps, try repairing your Office suite:

    a. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.

    b. Find and select your version of Microsoft Office on your computer. In the bar above, click Change.

    c. Select Quick Repair > Repair. If this does not work, retry the steps, but choose Online Repair instead. If you are still unable to open any apps, uninstall and reinstall Office.

For reference, you may check this article.

    Hey.

Next problem is that there is no "update options" under product information.

    Hi MTakalo,

In some instances, your Office application may freeze due to compatibility issue. We recommend that you get the latest updates for Office by following the steps below:

    1. Open OneNote.
    2. Click File > Account.
    3. Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.

Note: If you don't see Update Now, click Update Options > Enable Updatesto turn on automatic updates. After that, click Update Options > Update Now.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you repair your OneNote and check if it resolves the issue:

    1. Press Windows key + X > select Programs and Features.
    2. Right-click OneNote and choose Change.
    3. From the "How would you like to repair your Office Programs" screen > Online Repair > Repair.
    4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

Note: If you have a suite such as Office 365 Home or Office Home and Student 2013 or 2016, search for the suite name, even if it's just a particular application you want to repair such as Word or Excel. If you have a standalone application such as Word or Excel, search for the application name.

Kindly update us with the outcome.
