Just because win10 is 64bit that is no reason to install 64bit Office
Re-install 32bit Office

Hi,
my computer runs a Windows 10 and is a 64 bits system. I just uninstalled 32-bit version of Microsoft office 2016 and tried to install a 64bits. I get an error message indicating that installation failed since there is a 32-bit version. There is no trace of any office remnant on the control panel, so I don't know if there is some file left from the uninstalled version? Any idea?
Thanks,

Did you get it installed and working now?
Thank you. I noticed that Visio was preventing the installation, although it is not part of office package!
Definitely us the Fix it tool.
As well, take another look in the Control Panel > Programs and Features list for ANY program that is part of Office, ie viewers or Visio or Project. They will also have the same effect.
Download the easy fix tool, it will remove everything that was left behind:

Let me know if that works.
