I have been working on a document in Word 2016 using track changes, and find that if I delete text where there is a marginal comment, the comment disappears.  How can I retain the comment when the text is deleted but showing with strike through?

The way that Word works at the moment, if the text, in respect of which a comment appears, is marked for deletion, the comment will also be deleted.  Also, while you could make a copy of the text of comment before marking the text for deletion, and then insert a new comment in respect of the text marked for deletion, if you subsequently reject the deletion of the text, the comment made in respect of the text that was marked for deletion will be deleted, without the original comment being reinstated.

To try and have this behaviour changed, you could raise the issue at:

    http://word.uservoice.com/

though you might first search that site to see if the issue has already been raised, in which case, you could add your vote to it.

Thanks for taking the trouble to explain this.
