slideshow auto hide slide by date?

is there a way to schedule a date that a slide will "hide" automatically with PowerPoint 2016?  For example we run a slide show that has date specific announcements but once that date is reached we don't want to have to manually hide the slide.  thanks!

Hi BCHD Royer,

Thanks for your reply.

However, what I want to explain is that it is not feasible for PowerPoint to set a lifecycle for slides. I recommend you use a custom slide show for your presentation. It is easier than hiding slides manually.

If you have any concern about that or providing your feedback, you can click the smile face on the right-top corner of PowerPoint to do that. I appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Neo

Neo has it right:  PPT doesn't offer this capability itself.  But there are external programs and add-ins that might help.  I think PresentationPoint might be one.  It's worth looking into.

There are also people who custom-develop solutions for this type of problem; several of us answer questions here as well, so if you or a colleague are fairly conversant with VBA, you might be able to write your own solution.

My goal is to have slides expire from a slide show when their date has passed.  BUT in the overall purpose the customer slide show may help us - I'll give it a closer review and trial.

    Thank you for your suggestion!

    Hi BCHD Royer,

Here is my understanding of your goal: set a time for some slides and they will keep hiding until the time is passed. If so, I'd like to explain that it is not feasible for PowerPoint to do so. Thanks for your understanding.

Since you don't want to hide your slides manually, as a workaround, I'd like to suggest you use a custom slide show to play your slides. You can follow the steps below to do that:

    1. Click Slide Show>Custom Slide Show>Custom Shows.
    2. Click New>Check the slides you want to play>Modify their order>Edit custom slide show name>OK.

After that, you can click Slide Show>Custom Slide Show>Your custom slide show to play it. For your reference: Create and present a custom show.

    Regards,

    Neo
