MS Project "Status Date" data

Hello everyone,

I was reading up on the "Status Date" feature and I was wondering if I can use this to see historical data for my MS project files. For example, let's say I have a task called that has scheduled work of 40 hours and is due in 5 days. Let's say that I update my actual work daily and it looks something like this

Day 1 Actual work : 5hrs

Day 2 Actual work : 11hrs

Day 3 Actual work : 17hrs

Day 4 Actual work : 28hrs

Day 5 Actual work : 40hrs

After a week of the project being over, can I put the date of Day 3 in the "status day" and see that the actual work was updated to 17 that day? I have tried this but it doesn't seem to work however I saw a video that said that the "status day" should update all the columns in project as they were.

Thank you

PeterPeter_1963,

I have a better suggestion. Take a look at either the Task Usage or Resource Usage view and add Actual work and Cumulative Work to the Details for the timescaled data (right side of view). With the timescale set for days, you will be able to see the total cumulative work on any given day (see screen shot)

John

Perhaps the "desired data" is the 8 hours each day of baseline work.

Status Date is Friday 17:00 (or any date/time after that).

By the way, if you adjust the timescale to hours, with both the task and the resource having the standard calendar, on the last day, Friday, your man Bob has done 1.5 hours of work for every hour of duration (and 1.38 hours on the Thursday). Model worker!

    PeterPeter_1963,

What exactly is the "desired data"?

Follow up question, what happens if my scheduled work is 8hr for all 5 days, will it keep the desired data?
