SharePoint Task/Subtask Template

We have a number of projects that always have the same steps that need to be completed. I want to create a task: Project Name with subtasks for each milestone that needs to be tracked and completed in order for the project to be closed out. How can I create task/subtask template so that I only need to add one item for each new request, instead of creating the item and all of its subtasks every single time?

Hi Kaitlin,

Do you mean that you want to create a list that contains task and subtask templates? If so, I'd like to explain that it is not feasible to achieve your goal. If you have any concern about that, I'd like to suggest you post a new UserVoice to feedback your thought about this function. I appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Neo

I don't want to create a new list for every project, I want to have one list to track all projects, with the task and subtasks reproduced for each project.

    Hi Kaitlin,

To create Task template, you can follow the steps below to do that:

    1. When you finish editing your task, you can click the List ribbon or Setting gear then click List Settings. In the Permissions and Management column, click Save list as template

    1. Type related info of your template and click OK.

After that, your task will be saved as a template and you can find it in the app lists. And you can use it to type different contents for your projects.

Note: If you can't find the option "Save list as template", please let your admin enable "custom script" for your site.

For your reference: Manage list templates, Allow or prevent custom script

    Regards,

    Neo
