Powerpoint not showing objects in slide view but in preview and presentation

I have a strange problem when working with my powerpoint slide deck.

I can use images and text fields that are contained in the master slide deck, that is not an issue.

However, when I place text fields or images into the slide (copy pasting or via the menu inserting a file from the hard disk, using various image formats like PNG ,tiff), they don't show up in the editing mode. However, such images or text (as shown in the screenshots at the end of the post) do show up in the preview pane to the left and when running the slide show.

Another, I believe related observation is, that when selecting one of the objects that are part of the master layout, I don't see a frame for resizing etc in the normal view. (They are there in the master view of the document).

My suspicion is, that while editing the master slides, I must have messed something up, but I just cannot tell what went wrong. Do you know or have an idea what is misconfigured?

    Hi HolgrP,

From your post, I understand that when you insert an image or text box in a slide, they don’t show up in your slide (edit mode) but they do appear in thumbnails on the left, as shown below. Correct?

If this is the case and if you think it is because of the master slide, then I’ll suggest you create another master slide and then test further.

For your Reference: Modify a slide master in PowerPoint for Mac

If the issue persists, please provide the following information:

    1. Please confirm the version and build of PowerPoint app. To confirm, in PowerPoint, go to the PowerPoint menu and choose About PowerPoint.
    2. Does this happen in all the presentation you created, or it is limited to specific one?
    3. Since when are you facing the issue? is it after Office update?

    Thanks,

    Neha
