Issues printing graphs

Hi,

We have been experiencing problems when printing graphs in Excel. This problem only occurs when the graph is in its own tab; when it is within a sheet, it always prints no problem.

The problem is that some of the graph, usually bottom and RHS, is cut off in the printout. This does not always occur but comes and goes and has been experienced on several different PCs, some running Windows 7 and others running Windows 10. It has also been experienced whilst working with several different workbooks.

Thanks for getting back to me

    1. I do not generate the graph with VBA code
    2. I modify some aspects of the configuration of the graphs such as the axis scale. I will check whether the problem still occurs if I simplify the VBA code

    Hi S D Roberts,

Thanks for getting back to us.

To give you right directions, please confirm the below things:

    1. Regarding " sometimes using VBA code", do you mean you generate the graph with the VBA code?
    2. If the answer to Q1 is no, how is VBA related to the graph? If you add simple VBA code (e.g. one line) instead of the original code, does the issue occur?

    Thanks,

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

    1. Some related screenshots to show the symptoms and a screenshot to show "the graph is in its own tab". About the second part, how do you create the graph in its own tab? We would like to collect the steps to create it to test on our side.

The image below shows the symptom I have reported i.e. there is no x-axis and the graph is also cut off on the RHS

The image below is what it should look like:

...and this is what I mean by "the graph is in its own tab":

...i.e. it is not embedded in a sheet but it is the only item in the tab I have named "1"

    2. If you switch to a different printer, does the issue occur? yes If you create a new simple workbook with a graph in its own tab, does the issue occur? no

    1. What actions have you performed before the issue occurred for the first time? For example, a system update and a software installation.

I am sorry but this first happened a long time ago and I cannot remember whether any system changes were made preceding the first instance of the problem.

    4. You mentioned the issue occurs occasionally. Could you please help compare and contrast and possibly come out with steps so that we can reproduce on our side and find a fix?

We do not seem to be able to isolated the cause of the problem; we know that for the same graphs, it sometimes happens and other times doesn't with no difference in the process.

I will make sure that I have the latest Windows Update. In terms of printers, we are always exporting to PDF, sometimes using VBA code and other times using CutePDF writer. We notice the problem even by just going to print preview.

All of the spreadsheets with this issue have VBA macros.

    I hope this information helps.
