OneDrive sync freezing

One of our users got a new PC and was missing a lot of files. Examining his old PC, I see OneDrive sync is freezing when there is about 50 files left. No errors.

Troubleshooting attepted by following this article:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/onedrive-is-stuck-on-processing-changes-b386b813-9b66-4e47-8c4c-2b45533edccd

disconnecting the onedrive account and reconnecting has been tried.

onedrive.exe /reset has been tried.

This is not good.  Second question.. how do we know if other clients are stuck like this? This is supposed to be a backup for our users files.

Hi GonWild,

To help us narrow down the problem, please temporary move the empty files out of the OneDrive sync folder, then drag them back to the sync folder one by one to see if the problem persists. At the same time, you can also try directly creating a new empty file in OneDrive sync folder to see if the sync still freezing.

Regards,

Tisky

ok, it is good to have this solved, but to learn from this, **I have to know why OneDrive doesn't supply a visible error to the user?**If so, it is bad design in my opinion and should be implemented in future releases.

Until then, h****ow can we be sure other users don't have this problem?

A frozen sync is something that few, if any, of our users pay attention to.

    Hi GonWild,

As the error message shown, OneDrive cannot upload the empty folders and files, would you please check the files if they are actual empty. It may be the same reason that the syncing is stuck when you upload the files in OneDrive sync folder on PC.

    Regards,

    Tisky

    Hi GonWild,

I would like to confirm whether you can successfully upload the files via website to narrow down if the problem is related to the account. At the same time, here I need to confirm more information with you.

    1. Where do you want to upload the files, to a SharePoint library or to your OneDrive for Business?
    2. If you upload the files to a SharePoint library, please check whether the problem only happen to one library?
    3. Whether the problem only happen to your OneDrive for Business or other users?

    Regards,

    Tisky
