Chapter Number Reference for Captions: Appendix

I have a document where the chapters are numbered in a named style "Heading 1". When I include the chapter number in my table captions I correctly get Table 1-1, Table 1-2, Table 2-1...

However, I also have lettered Appendices at the end of my document in a named style "Appendix Header".

When I insert a table caption in Appendix A of my document it inserts with the chapter number of the last "Heading 1" style section title. I can edit the caption by right-clicking and selecting "Edit Field" and then choosing "Appendix Header" from the Field Properties > Style Name selection. It then correctly updates my caption to read Table A-1. However, when I insert the next table caption it defaults back to the last chapter number and also causes any previous appendix table captions to revert back to numbered chapters.

Is there a workaround for this?
