I have Office 365 plan for Enterprise (Macbook Air). I'm trying to open an excel file that has macros but got the error "Microsoft Visual Basic - Unexpected Error (485)". My colleague who is using the same plan can open the same file just fine from his Macbook Pro. Can you advise what to do?

    Hi Nikita,

Please first check if you are using the same version of the Excel 2016 for Mac application as your colleague. Meanwhile, check whether you have the latest version of the Excel 2016 for Mac application. If no, update the version of it to the latest version to see and let us know the result.

Moreover, upload a full screenshot of the page showing the version information of the Excel 2016 for Mac application you are using. You can access the page via Excel>About Excel.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

    Thanks,

    Cliff

    Hi Nikita,

The latest version of the Excel 2016 for Mac is 16.14.1.Please update your version of the Excel 2016 for Mac application to the latest version and then restart the Mac to see the result.

Meanwhile, I’d like to know whether you see the error message just after you open the Excel file with macro codes. Could you upload some screenshots showing the issue?

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

    Thanks,

    Cliff

    This article explains error 485

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa445468.aspx

The object model in 15.x updates of Excel is different from the object model in 16.x updates of Excel.

    The current update is 16.14.1

If the code is failing in 16.14.1 use the Smile button in Excel to report the issue to Microsoft.

    Thanks.
