On click animations not working properly in powerpoint

Hi,

I am trying to make an interactive map of some kind in powerpoint. It's a little complicated, but I feel like it should work. I will try and explain my process below.

  • I use 'freeform' shape to make a shape around a country. I then remove the outline, put the transparency up to 100% and name the shape under selection pane (Eg. Freeform Shape: Afghanistan). This means you can't see the shape but it is still technically there.
  • I want the number of refugees in that country to appear when you click that country. So I create a shape with the number of refugees in a text box, go to animations, I click 'Zoom in' and trigger on click of 'Freeform Shape: Afghanistan'. I then add an exit animation to trigger on click of 'World Map' (the background photo, which basically means if you click anywhere else on the map the shape should disappear).

This process works when I do it once, but when I try with multiple countries the animations do not work as they should. I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps this is all a bit too complicated?

    Hi Ryan,

According to your description, seems it works fine when you only set a country. It might be in a chaotic order when you set multiple countries in the animations.

Given this situation, if you repeat the previous steps for each country to set a world map, and then add one country after another to see if the situation makes different.

If the situation persists, I would like to confirm the following information to better understand it:

1.Could you provide some details regarding the animations not working as they should? How did it play?

2.Did you do the operation mentioned only in a slide? How about using serval slides to try it?

    Regards,

    Eli

Try putting TWO animations under the trigger

    1. Text Box appear
    2. Text Box Disappear
