Embedded PDF Object in Word Issues

I am trying to embed a PDF object into a Word file.  When I email the Word file with the embedded PDF object, the recipient only see the PDF as an "image" and cannot open the actual PDF.  Clearly I am missing something crucial here but cannot figure out what.  Please help!!!

You are sending the word document as an attachment, not using it in a mail merge, correct? It definitely will not work in a mail merge - the recipient will get it as a PDF image in the message.

Sending the document as an attachment is working here - i can open the embedded pdf. Security settings on the recipients computer could prevent it from opening, but the recipient should receive a warning message.

Good morning, those are the instructions I have followed to create the embedded PDF.  Yet whenever I share the Word document with someone, they are unable to open the embedded PDF.  I am using a work computer and do not think I have the ability to "repair" Word.  We are using Word 2013, is embedding a PDF simply not possible using this version of Word?

    Fpuld be a recipient fault.
Have you try to send the same document to another email that belong to you.
Try to send to an outlook.com or gmail.com
    And check via web
