Cannot format Date Axis in Pivot chart

Hi,

I have googled everywhere but failed to find a solution: i can't seem to be able to format the date axis of my pivot chart. I want to shorten the date to dd.mm., but the chart always shows dd.mm.yyyy

Here's what i did:

  • changed the date format in the pivot table itself (didn't help)
  • tried to format the axis, however as my chart has two x-axes i can only format the text axis. The axis type "date axis" is visible, but disabled and cannot be selected
  • also tried to format the date via "Field settings" of pivot table, but there is no format button on the window

Any idea how to format the date in the chart?

    Hi,

plz try to explore the below optins.

Right-click a date in the pivot table (not the pivot chart).

    Click on Field Settings

Change the Number Format to the date format that you want.

Excel 365 Pro Plus with PowerPivot and Power Query (aka Get & Transform)

Convert dates to custom text with Power Query.

PQ is available free from Excel 2010 onward.
