Comments / Notes in Excel for iPad

since a recent update, when I tried to insert a comment in a speadsheet with lots of comments created in an earlier version, it suggests that old comments are now known as notes and if I insert a comment changes might be lost if edited in older version. The KB article suggests I can maintain the old functionality if I insert a NOTE rather than COMMENT. However I cannot find anyway to insert a note using the latest version of Excel for ipad. Can anyone help.

This is occurring because of the latest update in Excel and the information is included in this article. This is why we are encouraging you to submit your concern as a feedback in our Excel UserVoice website so that it can be collated by our support engineers.

If you have additional questions, please let me know by replying to this thread.

    I have already done so.

BUT THIS is the article I originally referred to in that article links to about what to do takes you to...

" I don't want threaded comments. I want the old comments. How do I insert those?

Refrain from clicking New Comment, and instead, click New Note. That command available on the right-click menu. Or you can click Notes > New Note on the Review tab."

Using the version for iPAD and iPhone you cannot do this. THAT IS MY ISSUE

WE NEED the ability to insert a "NEW NOTE" (as well as a comment) in the iPad version otherwise we are just going around in circles.

    Hi Marley,

We appreciate you for standing by on this concern. In line with the KB article that was mentioned in your post about maintaining the old functionality if a note was inserted instead of a comment, would you be able to share to us the link of the article so we can have it verified?

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.

I don't see this is for the user Voice because it is clearly a bug introduced which makes the new version for the ipad incompatible with older versions of Excel for desktop. IT is not a suggestion for improvement.

What is even much worst is that now both the ipad and iPhone have updated to v2.21, the ipad version is clearly  now incompatible with the iPhone version. see screenshot of a comment inserted on ipad viewed in iPhone below.

Despite update to v2.21 the problem still exists.. I have sent all required info via DM .

I need to insert notes not threaded comment as I must maintain compatibility with older desktop versions. I do not wan treaded comments or the risk that edits on older version will remove all comments.
