Our Office 365 support rep asked us to do this as well. Unfortunately, it did not have any positive impact for us. We later found out a number of global admins had the same issue...

Once the ticket was escalated, the techs fixed the issue by forcing an update in the back-end. It seemed like some routine upgrade work through the O365 infrastructure had not fully synchronised across all our admins. Once it was kicked manually, everything was OK thankfully.

Pure speculation on my part but I do wonder if this is part of the UI changes being rolled out. It would appear that "Security & Compliance" is being split out into two separate URLs and possibly this caused it? Again, pure speculation.

If anyone else has the same issue, get your ticket escalated and a tech will "do stuff" in the back end.

    Hi FR_FR,

May I know if you can access Security & Compliance now? If there is any update, please come back and share with us.

    Best Regards,

    Hi FR_FR,

If you are the global administrator of your tenant, you may try assigning yourself the permission with PowerShell. Please refer to Yang Zheng's answer in the following thread:

Custom Audit Log in Security and Compliance

Please let us know if there is any update.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan

    Hi FR_FR,

To check is this is related to your account, please try accessing it from the Office 365 admin center by the following process:

    1. Sign in the Office 365 admin center with your admin account;
    2. In the left panel, go to Admin centers > Security & Compliance.

Additionally, to better assist you, I would like to confirm if you want to assign permission for archiving, auditing, and retention policies or for document deletion policies.

To assign permissions for archiving, auditing, and retention policies, you may go to the Exchange admin center.

To assign permissions for document deletion policies, you may go to the Document Deletion Policy Center.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan
