Yammer - getting error when uploading files

Question

Dear Team,

Unable to upload files to Yammer group and getting error "Upload failed" when using the upload options from feed and files. But user is able to upload files from the option SharePoint. User tested this in different computer and the issue remains the same. Also, cleared upload center cache files from Microsoft Upload center 2016 but not helped to resolve the file upload issue. Please help to resolve this issue.

Hello Robbie,

Sorry for not providing any updates on this conversation. Now, we are experiencing a different behavior with Yammer file upload.

1. The file upload (any files) works when we type any words/content in the Yammer feed.
2. The file upload is not working when we choose the option upload from Yammer feed and also from the Files-->Upload option.

Its uploading the file upto 80+ percentage and finally resulted with an error "1 file failed to upload".

3. Tested with multiple computers and from another network the results remains same.

Please check and share your inputs on the default behavior for uploading the files to Yammer.

Thanks for your update.

The issue is happening to only one user. No, the user didn't try with other networks, I'll ask him to try with his home network to see the behavior also I'll check and update you the status of checking the settings which you've mentioned.

Thank you for the information.

How many users are affected.

Has the user tried to upload the file in yammer outside the company networks.

I would request you to please check the below setting in the yammer network.

• You need to login to yammer as a verified admin
• Click on the Gear symbol at the top left, then click on Network admin
• Click on Configuration, then look for File Upload Permissions
• Select the option “Allow people to upload and attach files in any format ”, and then click on Save button.

Hello Robbie,

User is uploading files using the Yammer feed upload option. Also, he tried from the option Files -->Upload. Initially the file is uploading up to 90% but after that it ended with an error "Upload failed".

The upload failed for all the Office documents (Word, Excel, etc), Images and videos.

User tried and tested it in different computer and issue remains same when uploading word, excel, image and video files to the yammer group.

I would request you to please provide step by step information while re producing the issue.

Type of files that file while uploading eg: >Office document, Images or videos.
