When I want to type words like mRNA, pH, rRNA, etc., word will autocorrect it to Mrna, Ph, Rrna respectively. Does anyone know the solution? Seems that I cannot uncheck this autocorrect function. Thanks.

To be able to help you we need to know your version number of Word for the Mac and the version number of the OS you are running.

In addition, please be a bit more specific ... is this happening when you type, for example, pH at the beginning of a sentence or is it happening whenever you type pH? When you say you cannot uncheck this autocorrect function, what specific function are you trying to disable?

Please disregard the suggestion from RonBarker... I'm sure he meant well but the path he mentioned is for the Windows version of the program. You won't be able to follow it on a Mac. Moreover, this has nothing to do with a Custom Dictionary in the first place.

However, before anyone can offer meaningful suggestions you need to provide complete & accurate details. By posting to Unknown/other without identifying the release & version of your Office software it's difficult to determine what the problem may be. Please go to Word> About... in the main menu to determine the present Version. Include that in your reply as well as the release of macOS you're running it on.

Not sure which version of word you have! But try this>File>Options>Proofing>Custom Dictionary>Edit word list>Type mRNA etc. in the words dialogue box>Add.

    Bob

It does have something to do with Custom Dictionary on a PC as I have tried it out by entering the problem abbreviations mRNA, pH, rRNA.
