Exchange Online Migration Issue

Having an issue when migrating a user account.

Getting Error: MigrationPermanentException: You can‎'t use the domain because it‎'s not an accepted domain for your organization. --> You can‎'t use the domain because it‎'s not an accepted domain for your organization.

However all the domains are ones that we own and are setup in Office 365.  Other users with the same (multiple) domains migrate with no issues.

The only difference I can see on these couple of accounts is the SIP address and primary SMTP address are different.

Just wondering if it needs the SIP and SMTP to be identical for the migration to take place.

E.G.  (e-mail blocked out for privacy)

SIP: ******@sistercompany.co.uk

smtp: ******@sistercompany.co.uk

smtp: ******@maincompany.mail.onmicrosoft.com

SMTP: ******@mailcompany.com

This person moved from the sister company to the parent company but not all the addresses were changed for business/personal reasons (before my time so not entirely sure).  I am looking to change this as we have a few others like it.  I have advised they would not lose their original address they will just send out from the company they are employed by (i.e. parent company)

Another concern is the Windows UPN is also still set to the sister company although they logon with domain\username so less of an issue.

Also, is it possible to remove a single user from a batch of multiple users or do I complete the batch migration with this user failing and then migrate them separately at a later date?

    Thanks

    Lee

    Hello Lee,

I'm working on this thread. Sorry for missing that private message.

Generally, we recommend let the SIP and SMTP address are same with each other in Exchange Online environment. Since the Skype for Business is integrated with Outlook, they are need the same credential to login in for normal usage.

May I know if is there an reason why this user's SIP address and SMTP address are different?

Meanwhile, from the Get-MigrationUser result which shows the user's SMTP address is ******@sistercompany.co.uk, not the ******@mailcompany.com. This may be the cause, can you change the user's SMTP address to the same one with SIP address to check the issue.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Regards,

    Rudy

    Hi Itwarner,

Please double check if the domains are all listed as accepted domains in Office 365 admin center ( EAC>mail flow>accepted domains). If not, please add absent domains in Office 365.

If all the domains are listed and the issue persists, I need gather more information to narrow down the possible cause of the issue.

    1. A screenshot of the proxyAddress value of the affected users in your local AD. To protect your privacy, I will send you a PM (Private Message) to collect it.
    2. A screenshot of the error message you got.
    3. May I ask if you were performing Hybrid migration in Office 365 EAC?
    4. Please run the following PowerShell cmdlet to check related migration logs and send the log to me in PM.

    Get-MigrationBatch | fl

    Get-MigrationStatistics | fl

    Get-MigrationUserStatistics -Identity ******@domain.com -IncludeReport | FL

    Get-MigrationUser ******@domain.com | fl

    Regards,

    Leo
