Excel Displays "Display Settings" on bottom status bar

When the display zoom is set to anything but 100%, the "Display Settings" option is show (as above)

Problem being when you open a document, then save it, whatever zoom level is selected saves with the document. We have a client using custom templates in Excel, and when someone saved the file, someone opening on another computer sees the same format changes. Looking for a way to disable this in Excel, so the format will maintain regardless of who opens the file or saves it (we want them to be able to edit numbers and names, but not the format of the spreadsheet - which is already locked, but the view settings affect column sizes)

Client is running Windows 10 1803, Excel 2016

Moved From: Excel / Windows 10 / Office 2016

    Hi Patrick,

Any custom views or specific display settings (such as hidden rows and columns, cell selections, filter settings, and window settings), print settings (such as page settings, margins, headers and footers, and sheet settings) used in an Excel file gets saved in the file itself. The Excel application will open the file and will base the view used on what is saved in the File. This means by default, any changes made to the Excel file that was saved will affect how other users see the file upon opening it.

    Thank you Jordan,

this doesn't really answer my question though, I understand the file and view settings being saved with the file - what I'm trying to figure out is whether or not the "Display Settings" feature in Excel can be disabled, so it doesn't alter the appearance of the workbook without user intervention. So far the only thing I can think of is to downgrade the client to an earlier version of Excel that doesn't have this particular feature.
