Click-to-run version vs subscription

I recently downloaded Office 365 A1 for students via school account. I got the installer and installed Microsoft Office 365 and was excited to use the feature on PowerPoint, Word, Outlook 'Icons'. 'Icons' feature inserts SVG icons and I wanted to use that feature. But it was missing on Insert > Illustrations. So I looked at support.microsoft.com and the community said that Click-to-run versions cannot use the 'Icons' feature.

I am currently using 'Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus | Microsoft Office Pro..Plus 2016(I dont know why it isnt 2019 its up-to-date) Version 1803(Build 9126.2295 Click-to-run)

If you know why it isn't working(maybe im wrong) and if you know, please tell me how to NOT install click-to-run versions via portal.office.com.

Thanks Have a nice day

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

It seems like that it is related to something about the license which is used to activate your Office. There are two licenses under your Product Information.

Could you please use command prompt to run some script like below to check the results?

  1. Sign out of all the Office applications and close all of them.
  2. Press Windows key + R  -> type cmd to open the command prompt window. (Please Run as administrator to open it.)
  3. Input the following command:

        1. cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16. If you can't find the path, type cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16  and press Enter.

        2. cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus and press Enter (copy the last five digits of the product key for Office 16 O365ProPlus).

        3. cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:xxxxx (paste the last five digits of the product key) and press Enter.

  1. Restart computer.

Regards,

Zixuan

    Hi customer,

Thanks for posting in our forum.

Inserting icons and SVG files are only available to Office 365 subscribers. And since you have Design idea feature, you should be an Office 365 subscriber. However, "Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016" that you mentioned are two different products, could you please open PowerPoint>File>Account, and capture a screenshot of all the information under Product Information? It will help us to double-confirm your environment.

If it lists Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus there, please click Options>Quick Access Toolbar, select All Commands to check whether there is Insert Icons command like below.

    Regards,

    Zixuan

It's NOT because of click2 run. All versions of 365 are click 2 run (AFAIK) and eventually all will have icons. I say eventually because there are several update plans and it looks like you are on Semi Annual (the slowest) I thought this had icons but it may not.

2016 (not 365) comes in msi (mainly enterprise) and click2run. THIS version of click2Run will not have icons

I would consider changing from semi Annual to Monthy updates (google) or maybe doing an online repair.

    Confusing - yes it is!
