How do I fix in a Macbook the error 10008 in OneNote: more than 5,000 OneNote items (notebooks, sections, section groups) and cannot be queried using the API?

I am not able to share an email in Outlook to any of my OneNote notebooks. It says more than 5,000 items cannot be queried using API. I have already deleted all my old non in use notebooks. The url you indicate to follow in the error message i get drives me to an archieved blog page which was designed for Windows OS, i have an macbook.
The issue doesnt happen in the windows, just in the macbook.
I really would like to understand and know how to fix this annoying issue.
