Microsoft Word slow when multiple document files open

When I open multiple word documents the application slows to the point of being unusable.

I have looked around, but haven't seen someone else with this problem.

I am able to have multiple excel sheets, programs, websites, and other things open at the same time without things slowing down. This is only when I open a 2nd Word document. And it isn't sending the CPU to 100% or close to it.

There is an add-on program called Narrative1 that is installed.

Thanks for your help!

I am running Microsoft Word 2016 MSO 32 bit desktop version Version 1807 with a Microsoft Office 365 Business subscription

OneDrive and Sharepoint are connected to the program.

Windows10 Pro 10.0.17134 Build 17134 Lenovo ThinkPad

I tried running the program in safe mode and that didn't work.

I am running the repair now so hopefully that fixes it.

update: I also tried the 'modify' tool and that didn't fix the issue. I will try the next thing

    thanks,

    brady

    Hi Brady,

Are you still experiencing the problem in safe mode? If the problem doesn't happen in safe mode, that means the problem may be related to the add-ins, we suggest you remove some add-ins then check whether the problem still persists.

    Regards,

    Tisky

Hi, i hope you're doing good today.

Try opening word in safe mode.

    Windows + R, then type winword /safe

If it works fine like this, the issue is the add-in, if you want to disable it please read this.

If that does not work perform an Office repair

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair...

If nothing seems to work i suggest you to change in your organization profile trough the admin center the update channel from semi-annual to monthly or viceversa, uninstall office and install it again, it will install a new Office version.

    Regards.
