Hi

I have a large document that has a lot of check boxes in a table.

I want to apply conditional formatting to the cell each check box is in

For example there are 4 check boxes in 1-4 columns, each in their own cell.

I was cell 1 to turn green, 2 to turn yellow, 3 to turn amber, 4 to turn red

There seems to be no easy way, and am i correct in thinking this will be macros only?

Yes, it will require a macro solution.

Before that can be designed, you need to specify what kind of check box you're using. Is it a content control, a legacy form field, or an ActiveX control?

A post that shows how to work with ActiveX controls (in that case, option buttons) is at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/change-the-cell-shade-color-when-selecting-the. However, if you don't already use ActiveX checkboxes, I'd advise you to avoid them. If the document needs to be used by Word for Mac or by Word for Windows before Office 2010, stick to legacy form fields.

    Hi James2404,

Yes, it will not be easy and involves VBA codes.
