Hi,

I have a problem with selecting data from Excel within PowerPoint. I´m able to edit the data by using the "Edit data in excel" button, but the "select data" button is only opening the excel sheet and nothing more happens. Anyone who can help me? Thanks. Vegard

This is a known issue for certain chart types.

First, go to the PowerPoint menu and choose About PowerPoint. You should have version 16.13.  If you have any other version, install updates, then test again. Some chart types are working ok. Others are not.

Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection before checking for updates. Install Mac OS X updates followed by Office updates.

Install Mac OS X updates first:

To get Mac OS updates, go to the App store on your dock, and then click the Updates button to reveal available updates.

Then Install Office Updates

To get the update:

1.     Open any Office application

2.     Go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates

3.     Let AutoUpdate check for and install updates

4.     Restart your Mac

If you have any add-ins such as WebEx, Mendelay, EndNote, Zotero, TypeIt4me, etc it is essential that you install the latest updates for your add-ins.

If your chart still isn't working right in Excel, then click the Smile button in PowerPoint and report the problem. Be sure to mention the chart type you're having trouble with. Keep your install up to date to get the fixes as they become available.  If you want early copies of fixed builds, join Insider Slow

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your assistance. I used the Smile button but no one replied. I called Microsoft support and they, after four hours on the phone, helped me to install an earlier version of Power Point and Excel. So now it all works well again. Thanks!
