This functionality has been available for decades in Office tools, but it seems to have vanished in Office 365 (at least in the Teams app). As another user has posted: "Double clicking and then dragging to highlight words is basic Windows Functionality and has been forever."
WHAT HAPPENED? Please bring it back!

The feature is removed from Office 365, in my opinion, you can try to give a feedback to Microsoft. You can go to File- Feedback and send your suggestion to Microsoft:

Well, that feeback option is only available in the Desktop client tool, whereas this concerns the Teams version of the app. However, I went ahead and submitted feedback as suggested. Thanks

This information is not helpful and is incorrect, since this feature has been removed from Power Point only.
Why would Microsoft remove a feature which has been present in all other Microsoft products for as far as I can remember, and is still present in all other Microsoft products?
I'd rather believe it's unintended and there's a name for this: it's a regression.
Please Microsoft: fix it.
