Onedrive sync errors after removing read only attribute

Hi

I was helping my father with a problem where his accounting software was not saving changes.  I noticed that a lot of his files were read only - and as they were all data files I removed the read only attribute across the whole of his OneDrive.

Now there are over 5000 synch errors saying there is a duplicate file.  I’ve done the same removing of RO attributes from C:\users...\onedrive and the main Onedrive folder (although maybe they are the same thing)?  Surely the attribute change should just sync back to OneDrive cloud?

Any suggestions?

    Dear SimonGrantA,

Thanks for participating in the Microsoft Community. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll help you.

You could try a Onedrive reset:

-Open a Run dialog by pressing (Windows key + R)

Copy this and paste it into the dialog window then press OK

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

then, run same command without /reset

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe

next, verify the status of the files.

For further information see below link:

Do not hesitate to ask if you need more information.

I hope it has been useful to you.

    Regards,

    Renzo.
