Run-time error '53'

I have Microsoft Office version 16.26 and a Mac computer running MacOS Mojave (version 10.14.5)

Every time that I open either Word or Powerpoint (but not excel), I get the following Run-time error '53:"

File not found: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/MACPDFM/MacPDFM.framework/Versions/A/MacPDFM

I can still use Word and Powerpoint after I click on "End" multiple times, but it reappears after opening each document.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?  Thanks in advance.

The file will have a .PPAM ending. Unfortunately, while you can find the path to an add-in in Word, PowerPoint is not helpful. You could either:

  • look in ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-ins, or
  • do a Spotlight search for .ppam and/or linkcreation and/or link.

    Hi,

My name is Vladimir. I am an Independent Advisor. Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can imagine that must be frustrating. Maybe is an incompatible Adobe Add-in "linkCreation.dotm".

    It is located at:

    ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.localized/Startup.localized/Word

Once you remove the file and re-start Word, no more errors.

In PowerPoint, please try opening Tools>PowerPoint Add-ins. If the Acrobat add-in is listed there, select it and click the minus sign to remove it.

If it's not listed there, try opening Acrobat, run a repair (the command may be under the Help menu). That will restore both the Word and PowerPoint add-ins. Then go back to PowerPoint's Tools>PowerPoint Addins command, select the add-in and click the minus sign.

    Information Vladimir left out:

    Start by closing Word.

To open your hidden user Library folder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu and choosing Library. The folder will open. Please note that the User Content and Startup folders will not always have .localized appended to the name when you view them in the Finder. Delete the add-in file, then restart Word to test that the error is gone.

Thank you.  The Tools>PowerPoint Add-ins removal fixed the problem.
