Remove horizontal line in chapter after EndNotes

How can I remove a Horizontal line showing up as a header in the next chapter after EndNotes is used? It's not responding to "None" as a border change or a style change. Also, I only called it a Header--it's not that either. :(

THX!

That line looks like the Endnote Continuation Separator.

It may be that you still have the selection in the EndNote "story".  If you remove all of those empty paragraphs, back to the ¶ at the end of the text of the last EndNote, and then click in the body of the document (above the EndNote separator and then press Enter, or insert text until a new page is added to the document, you will probably find that the troublesome line no longer occurs.

That's an Endnote Separator. It's most likely there because the text below is marked as Endnote Text style, but it could be something introduced by the conversion from Scrivener. Please try selected all the return characters (the backwards Ps) and apply Normal style to them.

Thank you so much for your reply. It did not work. And I agree it's an issue coming from the conversion from Scrivner. What I've done now is insert pages before the end notes start instead of after. That way, the imprint isn't "set" yet. It's a hassle, but for less than 40 pages, I can do it.

    Thanks again--much appreciated!

I used the Word feature for endnote but I started this paper in Scrivner and am transferring it to Word (where the problem exists).

Thank you so much for your help

Are you referring to the Word feature Endnotes (Insert>Footnote...>Endnotes), or the Word Add-in EndNote?

Please choose Word>Preferences>View and check All under Show Non-Printing Characters. Then make a double page screen shot showing the 2 pages where the rule begins and post it here using the Insert image tool (circled below):
