Is it possible to backup folders/files to Onedrive with a simple backup method or program with using the Sync feature? I just want to have an offsite backup of my PC and though that this might be a good source for the storage space. Only information I could locate indicated purchasing a software package to provide that function. Not what I was looking to do as I already have a backup to USB drive system working. Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

If you have Office 365 Business,the group you have posted to this includes OneDrive business, and the default installation/setup of Office would set OneDrive Business as the default save location, so there is nothing for you to do.
Win any version also includes a backup/clone utility, your usb device may well be using its own dedicated backup utility.
