SharePoint Will Not Export Recurring Data

Hi,

I am exporting a SharePoint list that shows the data inside of a Calendar, which includes some items that are recurring every year, quarter, etc. As I select next page, I can see the recurring data items in the following years until their respective end dates.

Knowing I can see this data on the list, I select export to excel and it only exports the first instance of each events instead of properly showing all future events based on the recurrence.

Can someone please help me find a solution so we can export all events show on the calendar instead of just the first instance?

The objective is to get a report I can share with others showing all events today and future events including their recurrences. I am OK if this means we have to limit the data set to X years to limit the population but I should at least see the next couple of years!

Thank you you for your help.

Hi Michael,

We’re sorry for the any inconvenience caused.

Based on your description, we would like you confirm whether the data represented in Excel when you export your Calendar list is as below or not? For better understanding, we request you provide the sample screenshots at your end.

When we create a Calendar List with different Events (with recurrence daily, weekly, Yearly and Non recurrence events)> Clicking on Export to Excel.

Calendar List:

When Export to Excel:

Can you please check the screenshot when Exported to Excel and let us know whether you’re having similar situation?

Thanks,

Chitrahaas

Yes, it mimics the function and type of data based on the screenshots you provided, the expected behavior, but not the actual behavior desired.

Can you please add this to a request list for future updates as the Global Company I work for, and I am sure others, would appreciate an export that contains the recurrences listed and not condensed.

    Thank you!

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for writing back and letting us know.

When we export the Calendar List from SharePoint to Excel with recurring events, recurring calendar events showing as a single instance in Excel is an expected behavior. Given situation, we suggest you add your idea in SharePoint UserVoice as related team can take into consideration about it.

As a workaround, you can share the calendar list to members you want to share with the permission level (as you required).

    Appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Regards,

    Chitrahaas

    Hi,

Based on your screenshots, you are experiencing the same issue. If a was recurring, you should of seen the recurrence in excel but you did not. Here are some screenshots:

    View in Calendar form:

    List view:

    List view showing recurrences:

Excel view NOT showing recurrences (I am happy if the view stops after X time period, but I should be given that option or a reasonable time span such as 5 years for recurring items).
