Document Set - Shared Column - Column not updated by Move Event (Move File to other DocSet)

Scenario:

2 Docsets

Docset A

and

Docset B

With the shared Columns

Category

WBS Element

If a File is uploaded or per Drag and Drop put directly into one of the DocSets, the File gets the Values from the DocSet.

If the Value in the DocSet gets changed --> change pushed into the Files

BUT - if the File gets moved into an other DocSet or into the Root of the Library or from the Root of the Library into a DocSet the Values inside the File get not updated.

This happend always if first was uploaded into the root and than moved to the DocSet, or when a file was uploaded into the wrong DocSet.

Question:

Is there a possibility to ensure, that the shared Columns inside the file have the same values as in the DocSet where the files are stored in?

Is there a possibility to to catch the move event?

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your patience to wait for our updates. After consulting with more resource, it seems we can’t identify this is an expected behavior. Because In the instruction, it is said “automatically synchronized to all documents contained in the set”. Like below.

And there’s no other built-in settings can affect that. In this scenario, we would like to suggest you create a support ticket via Office 365 Admin Center > Support. Although we want to help you till the end, however, that support team there will have the best channel to escalate this SharePoint case. To help you contact with them more easily and efficiently, I will help you write a summary. You can use this summary to leave the message and tell them the case.

I will send you a private message about the summary. You can access it via this link.

    Regards,

    Rena

    Hi Martin,

I have tested and found that after moving file from library root folder into a doc set, the file could get values from the Doc set but won't display that automatically until you enter random values into shared columns and click save, and then it will auto-change.

That means, we can reproduce the same behavior as  you mentioned.

We will consult with more resource on this and then post back.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Best Regards,

    Oliver
