MS Access Corruption

Hi,

Access app is getting constantly corrupted on a single machine.  The rest of the users, 80+, don’t report any issues.  Some of the user machines have the same set up as the problem machine, i.e. WINDOWS 10, 64 Bit Operating System, 64 Bit Office (some machine have 32 bit office).  Also, it does look like that other Office Apps, i.e. Outlook, Words, etc. are also getting occasionally corrupted and shutting themselves down on that machine, although they are used less than the Access App.  The Access App is used as a front end to SQL Server back-end, there are table Attachment to the front end.

Regards

Hassan

You wouldn't happen to be impacted by https://www.devhut.net/2018/06/13/access-bug-database-is-in-an-unrecognized-format/ by any chance?

Have you tried an Office Repair?

    Hi HMS1,

Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused you.

To troubleshoot the issue, there’re some suggestions you can try:

    1. Update Office to the latest version. With Office updated, some issues would get resolved.
    2. Try to open Office in safe mode to exclude the impact of some third-party add-ins, then check the result.

And as Daniel said, please provide some information with us to further check the scenario:

    1. Which version of Office do you have? After starting Word, click on File > Account, please share a screenshot of the Product Information part with us.
    2. If there’s any error message, please also share a screenshot of it with us.

    Best regards,

    Madoc

Thanks for your timely response Daniel.

There is no specific error message, but, it freezes for a moment and explorer opens with the filename_backup.  This has been affecting a single user - out of 80+ user -  in the last few months.  I do compact and decompile it; also, I gave the user the executable, .accde, rather than full version.  The issue seems to affect other office app, like Word and Outlook where they freeze and shut themselves down.

    Here is the set up.

    WINDOWS 10,

    64 Bit Operating System,

    64 Bit Office

    Regards

What's the exact error message you receive?

Have you tried performing an office repair?

    What build numbers are involved?

Have you tried reverting or updating to another build number to see if the issue is related to a specific update/build?

You are aware of the latest Access/SQL Server bug
